Written By Courtney Boniface
In this whimsical and satirical fairytale, a not-so-beloved king sets out to make his kingdom great again. To earn his coveted wish, he must answer the age-old question: What do women want? This retelling merges traditional fairy tale elements with modern themes to critique power and gender dynamics.
The Germ Chronicles
Written By Jeremy Robinson
In this semi-autobiographical staged reading, we follow the creative exploits of Germ, who recounts the moments where art informed his life and shaped him into the person he is today. His experiences are contrasted with themes of family, personal trauma, and humour.
Note: "The Boor" and "A Trumped up Fairy Tale" will also be featured in the "Heartland One-Acts".
The Heartland Regional One-Act Festival will take place this year in the Studio Theatre at Central Alberta Theatre’s Memorial Centre on April 11 and 12, 2025. You're invited to Central Alberta Theatre’s AGM! Learn what CAT has accomplished this past year and what is in the works.
September 18, 2024, 6:30PM (doors open 6:00PM)
Location: Red Deer Memorial Centre
Open to the general public. Everyone welcome!
CAT members will vote on amendments to CAT bylaws. Volunteer forms will be available for non-members to fill out, if they want to be a part of the voting process.
Here’s what’s on the agenda for this year:
Presentation of budget 2024-25 for your approval
Presentation of financial statements 2023-24 for your approval
Voting on the Special Resolution circulated in August improving our Bylaws
Election of board members: President, Secretary, Treasurer, up to 7 Directors
The election positions will be a little different this year assuming the passing of the Special Resolution. The officers’ positions (Pres, Vice Pres, Sec, Treasurer) will remain the same but instead of VP Productions, VP Facilities, VP Marketing, VP Training, the position titles will be simply Director. This improvement gives the board the ability to more equally distribute tasks. For example, the current board composition requires that the VP Productions position be assigned most of the work of the board. This is uneven, unfair and unrealistic.
Please make it a priority to attend your AGM! We need your support to help strengthen the organization.
Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Doors open 6:30 PM
Curtain at 7:00 PM.
Held in the Red Deer Memorial Centre auditorium. Free to attend.
You’ll see short snippets of the upcoming season’s theatre productions plus other entertainment and light catering. Plus it’s an opportunity to get ahead of the rush and purchase your season subscription!
